Lando Norris Tops Piastri in Sao Paulo Practice Session
The British driver has outscored his teammate at each of the past five race weekends.
The McLaren driver edged out fellow driver and title rival the Australian for the top spot in the final moments of the practice session at the Brazilian Grand Prix.
The British racer, who grabbed the points lead from his teammate by a single point after winning in the Mexican Grand Prix recently, beat the Melbourne-born driver by 0.023 seconds.
Earlier in the session, Piastri had been the quickest of the McLaren pair during the running before the sprint shootout due at 6:30 PM GMT.
The Red Bull star, the only other driver in the championship fight, lying 36 points Norris, ended up in 17th position as his team followed a different programme.
His teammate the Japanese driver was the sole competitor to go off, though minor, when he spun at corner four during the early running.
The Japanese slid over the track edges before rotating through the gravel trap, and was fortunate to avoid just a slight brush of the barrier.
The Ferrari of the seven-time champion also had a spin, at the final moments of the session, spinning around through the high-speed corner leading to the final corner on to the start-finish straight.
The veteran finished practice in 19th, just behind teammate the Monegasque driver.
Norris and Piastri were significantly quicker of the other competitors, with Nico Hulkenberg's Sauber third fastest, over half a second behind Piastri's pace.
Aston Martin's Fernando Alonso was in fourth, with the Sauber of Gabriel Bortoleto in front of Mercedes' George Russell and Alpine's Pierre Gasly and the Williams of Sainz.
